SECON Delivers Fifth ‘Missile Cum Ammunition Barge’ To Indian Navy

The MSME shipyard SECON Engineering Projects Pvt Ltd (SEPPL), has recently delivered the fifth barge of ‘Missile Cum Ammunition Barge to Indian Navy at Maharashtra’s Mira Bhayandar.

According to ministry of defence, it launching ceremony was conducted by Commodore Manish Vig, General Manager (QA), ND(Mbi).

Earlier, the contract for manufacturing this missile cum ammunition barge was signed between MoD and M/s SECON Engineering Projects Pvt Ltd on February 19, 2021, at Vishakhapatnam.

These barges were domestically designed and built under appropriate naval rules and regulations under Indian Register of Shipping (IRS).

Later, its testing was successfully conducted at Visakhapatnam’s Naval Science and Technological Laboratory (NSTL) during design stage.

These barges exemplify the growing capabilities of Indian manufacturing and stand as a testament to the skills possessed by Indians.

It is expected that these barges will give a push to Indian navy’s operational commitments by aiding in the transportation, loading, and unloading of items and ammunition onto Navy ships, whether docked at jetties or stationed at outer harbors.
