Scientist with Hisar’s LUWAS kills daughter, commits suicide later

Dr. Sandeep Kumar Goel, a scientist at Lala Lajpat Rai University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (LUWAS), Hisar, Haryana, brutally murdered his 8-year-old daughter Shanaya by cutting her with a surgical blade on Sunday evening. After this Sandeep also committed suicide. Sandeep was posted in the Veterinary Surgery Radiology Office.

The bodies of father and daughter were found in a blood soaked condition in the office itself. Police have also recovered a suicide note from the spot, on which 5 rules are written. Don’t regret etc. Police have seized the note for investigation.

Sandeep Goyal was originally a resident of Narwana in Jind district. Sandeep earlier lived with his family in Sector-15. Only a few months ago he had shifted to the quarters located in the old campus of HAU.

His mother Santosh told that she was living in MP with her younger son. She had come to Hisar only 20 days ago for her granddaughter’s birthday. 15 days ago Sandeep had told him that his mind gets disturbed as soon as he goes to the office. After this it was going well. At 4 pm she was sitting in the street with other women. During that time, Sandeep went away with his daughter to get something on the scooter.

An hour later, Sandeep’s wife Neetu said that he was not picking up the phone. Neetu told her that this had never happened before. After this she also called Sandeep, but he did not pick up. They reached the office searching for him. Going inside she kept calling Sandeep. The sound of Sandeep’s phone ringing was heard from one room. Sandeep’s name was also written outside that room. The room was locked from inside.

She knocked the gate, but no one opened. After this she called Neetu. When the door was opened with the help of people nearby, the blood soaked bodies of Sandeep and Shanaya were lying inside.

Santosh told that she will have to see this dark day, there is nothing better than this. There was no discord or domestic conflict with anyone in the house.

According to the employees working with Sandeep Goyal, he was suffering from depression. He had mentioned this many times. He was also getting his treatment done. Not only this, he also changed doctors several times regarding this. From time to time he was also having suicidal thoughts.

According to Sandeep’s neighbors, the scientist had a cheerful and calm nature. He also used to perform puja. Every morning he used to go to the temple to offer water to the Shivalinga. Whenever we met, it never occurred to us that we would take steps like taking life or giving up life.

A neighbor told that his daughter was playing in the street at 2 o’clock in the afternoon. After this, his wife also started crying after hearing what happened to him. He was very fond of the girl. She had turned 8 years old a few days ago. There was a program in the neighborhood and the Goyal family also participated in it. The family scattered while laughing.
