School Closed on 4 December: In view of heavy rainfall due to the remnants of Cyclone Ditwah, holidays have been declared in schools across Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Kerala on 4 December 2025. Flooding, waterlogging and unsafe road conditions have also been warned. 

Chennai School Holiday December 4

Continuous rain and waterlogging closed schools in Chennai, Tiruvallur, Kanchipuram and Chengalpattu on 3 December. Though official confirmation for December 4 is awaited as of the time of filing this report, the IMD forecast said there would be moderate rainfall in Chennai and neighbouring districts. Parents are advised to check updates from school authorities and local administrations.

Heavy Rain Forecast in Tamil Nadu: IMD

IMD issued an orange alert for Chennai and coastal districts. Nilgiris, Erode, Coimbatore, Tiruppur, Theni, Dindigul, Tenkasi, Tirunelveli, Kanyakumari, Salem and Namakkal will see heavy rainfall.

Puducherry, Karaikal, including other coastal regions, may experience thunderstorms with lightning. Normal life has been disrupted due to the storm, and authorities have issued an order to extend holidays for schools in vulnerable districts.

Tamil Nadu School Holiday on 4 December 2025

School holidays have been declared in several districts in Tamil Nadu owing to Cyclone Ditwah, which is seizing the coastal district. The low-lying and flooded-prone areas are seriously affected. It is advised that students and parents avoid unnecessary travel, and stay tuned to weather advisories.
