Supreme Court on Tuesday has reserved its order on a plea seeking an SIT probe into alleged irregular allotment of government contracts to firms linked to Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu and his relatives.

The Bench of Justices Vikram Nath, Sandeep Mehta and NV Anjaria directed all parties to file written submissions within two weeks.

The petition alleges that companies linked to the Chief Minister’s wife and close relatives were awarded contracts worth hundreds of crores without following proper tender procedures.

Senior advocate Prashant Bhushan, appearing for the petitioner, told the Court that nearly 70 contracts worth several hundred crores were given to firms connected to the Chief Minister’s family members.

He alleged serious irregularities and claimed that the State was being run like a private company.

One of the companies mentioned in the plea is M/s Brand Eagles, which is linked to the Chief Minister’s wife.

The petition also names M/s Alliance Trading Company, owned by his nephew Tsering Tashi, an MLA from Tawang district.

The plea claims that key contracts were awarded without following due process.

The State government opposed the petition and said it is politically motivated.

It argued that there was no wrongdoing and that the process followed was as per law.

The Supreme Court earlier said that the CAG report alone was not sufficient and sought detailed reports from the Union Home Ministry and Finance Ministry.
