Comedian Samay Raina is making a strong comeback with his new India tour titled ‘Samay Raina Is Alive And Unfiltered’. This marks his return to live performances following the controversy surrounding his YouTube show India’s Got Latent.

Sharing on Instagram on Wednesday, Samay made an announcement of his India tour. He captioned: “India tour live now on @bookmyshowin.” The tour begins with Bengaluru shows from August 15 to 17.

In September, he will perform in Kolkata on the 6th and 7th, Chennai on the 19th and 20th, and Pune from the 26th to the 28th. The tour will conclude in Delhi with three back-to-back performances on the 3rd, 4th, and 5th of October.

40,000 Tickets Sold in an Hour

The reception to the announcement was huge. Samay posted on his Instagram Stories sharing the excitement, having written:

The love is not real. We sold 40,000 tickets in one hour for the tour. That’s a record…Thank you so much for the love, we will blow the roof off.”

In another update, he included that the success of the tour was ‘all possible because of the blessings of his mother’.

Global Tour and THE Controversy

This India tour is the international leg of his return which has started on June 5 in Koln and finished in Sydney on July 20. He had previously tweeted: “The most trying time of my life creates the best comedy. Catch you on the tour.”

The scandal associated with India’s Got Latent began when an FIR was registered against some of the participants, including Apoorva Mukhija, Ashish Chanchlani, Ranveer Allahbadia, and even Samay Raina himself. According to the complaint, the show, which was aired on YouTube, encouraged obscenity and included sexually explicit material.

Public outrage grew stronger when Ranveer cracked a joke that was deemed offensive by most, causing social media fury and prompting the entire crew to face backlash.
