Samay Raina and Apoorva Mukhija to Appear Before NCW Today

YouTuber Samay Raina and influencer Apoorva Mukhija will have to face the National Commission for Women (NCW) today through video conferencing.

It is a segment of an investigation into a controversial episode surrounding one of Raina’s shows, India’s Got Latent. The podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia was the guest on the show.

The episode attracted harsh condemnation with abusive remarks, leading to public outrage and legal action. The row broke out after the video went viral, leading to several first information reports (FIRs) in Mumbai and Guwahati.

Police Case

A case was registered by the Maharashtra Police on the controversial comments, and then the NCW issued a summons on February 11. Allahbadia, popularly famous for his YouTube channel BeerBiceps, is yet to respond to the notice of the commission.

In addition to Raina and Mukhija, several other prominent individuals are scheduled to face the NCW today, such as comedian Jaspreet Singh, YouTuber Ashish Chanchlani, and producers of the show Tushar Poojari and Saurabh Bothra. The commission aims to probe their participation in the episode and the kind of content that generated mass outrage.

Ranveer Allahbadia has approached the Supreme Court, asking that several FIRs lodged against him be combined. Samay apologized to the public, confessing that his words were bad and that he knew they had caused stress. He also revealed that he has been getting death threats due to the controversy.

Apoorva Mukhija Case

Apoorva Mukhija, Social media influencer for being blunt on social media, has already called for her statement with Mumbai Police. Dubbed the ‘Rebel Kid,’ Mukhija declared that she was ready to assist the authorities fully.

Raina, on the other side, took down the controversial episode of the show on YouTube and apologized for the statements, stressing his commitment to cooperate with the investigation.

The case has generated debate regarding content responsibility on the internet, with the authorities cracking down on offensive online material. The NCW’s conclusions from today’s interrogation will probably decide the future course of legal proceedings.
