Amid ongoing investigations by central agencies into the Delhi Red Fort blast, the Faridabad Police has launched its own high-level probe. Officials announced on Thursday the formation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to unravel how Al-Falah University allegedly became the base for an extremist module. The team is tasked with investigating how the group operated undetected for years, raising serious questions about local security and oversight.
What exactly is this new police team investigating? The Special Investigation Team has a clear and critical mandate. It must prepare a comprehensive report on the university's operations, its funding patterns, and its possible support networks. A primary focus is mapping every connection that allowed the accused individuals, reported to be doctors, to use the university as a safe hub. The SIT has been specifically instructed to uncover how the suspects obtained, stored, and transported explosives from Faridabad to Delhi without alerting any authority, tracing the entire supply and logistics chain.

Who is in charge of this sensitive probe? The SIT is being led by two Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs), indicating the seriousness with which the local police are treating the case. They are supported by an inspector and two sub-inspectors. Faridabad Police Commissioner Satender Kumar Gupta has personally directed the team to examine how the university's environment allowed an extremist module to flourish undetected for such a long time. The team was formed shortly after the Haryana Director General of Police, OP Singh, visited the campus and expressed serious concern over what he termed a "collapse of internal security mechanisms."
What are the key lines of inquiry for the investigators? The SIT is looking closely at several key points. Investigators are collecting detailed information about how the alleged module was funded and how the suspects moved around. They are also looking into alleged local support from nearby villages. A significant part of the probe involves the mysterious disappearance of multiple faculty members since the blast case came to light. Preliminary findings suggest the explosive material used in Delhi originated from Dhauj village in Faridabad, and the SIT is conducting a discreet probe along this route to find potential facilitators.

How is this investigation affecting the university's standing? The allegations have already resulted in real consequences for Al-Falah University. In a related move, the university has been removed from the North Zone Inter-University Cricket Tournament hosted by Aligarh Muslim University. The November 22 match between Al-Falah University and Manav Rachna University has been cancelled. Organizers said the decision was due to the ongoing investigation and security concerns, showing the immediate impact of the accusations.
