Ruckus Erupts in J&K Assembly as Engineer Rashid’s Brother Displays Article 370 Banner

A scuffle broke out in the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly on Thursday after Khurshid Ahmad Sheikh, the MLA from Langate and brother of jailed Lok Sabha MP Engineer Rashid, displayed a banner calling for the restoration of Article 370 and 35A. The banner, held by Sheikh, read, “We demand restoration of Article 370 and 35A. Release of political prisoners.”

Sheikh entered the well of the House with the banner, sparking protests from Leader of the Opposition and BJP leader Sunil Sharma. As marshals attempted to intervene and bring him back to his seat, Sheikh refused to comply, and BJP members tried to seize the banner, resulting in a fistfight among lawmakers.

PDP MLA from Pulwama, Waheed Para, was seen intervening to assist Sheikh, further intensifying the chaos.
