The roof of Jhalawar district’s Piplodi Primary School has collapsed, killing at least four students and injuring several others. The tragedy caused panic and confusion as residents, emergency responders, and officials converged on the scene to begin rescue operations.

“3-4 students killed as the roof of Piplodi Primary School in Jhalawar collapses. Several students injured. When they received the news, Jhalawar Collector and SP Amit Kumar Budania left for the location,” news agency ANI reported SP Jhalawar Amit Kumar as saying.

17 students injured in the incident have been taken to a nearby hospital for medical care, according to authorities. Nurses are tending to the children while worried relatives wait outside the hospital hoping to know about the fate of their loved ones.

Panic Grips Locals as Rescue Efforts Intensify

A video posted by the news agency PTI caught the frenzy of the scene at the site where the building collapsed. Hundreds of villagers are observed standing in a crowd around the rubble, with some attempting to push bricks and debris manually in their desperate efforts to rescue students trapped underneath. A bulldozer is observed assisting rescue personnel in digging through the wreckage of the collapsed roof.

Several Images at the hospital capture moments of urgency and sorrow, as medical staff work around the clock to stabilize the injured children.

Authorities Act Quickly

Local authorities acted speedily, with the Jhalawar Collector and SP Amit Kumar Budania arriving on the scene to coordinate the operations. Emergency staff continue their efforts to find any students who might be still trapped under the rubble.

Though the reason for the roof collapse is still under investigation, authorities have promised a comprehensive inquiry into the incident. Rescue and relief work, they said, continues to be the priority for the moment.
