Kiren Rijiju Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister has attacked Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi with a few sharp weapons. Criticizing his word choice and leadership approach, Rijiju said, there is discomfort even among Congress MPs when he speaks in Parliament, as they fear he may make a statement that is eventually going to harm their credibility. Every time he makes a nonsensical statement the party has to carry the burden words, Rijiju Told ANI.

India Needs Strong Opposition

Rijiju emphasized that it was not possible to have an effective opposition in democracy and expressed his disappointment with the Congress saying they had not even fulfilled their basic duties.

Instead of holding accountable to the government in a constructive manner, party leadership many times makes rhetoric which diverts attention from the meaningful debate, he said.

Past Controversy to Supreme Court

Rijiju recalled that it had happened on many occasions when Rahul Gandhi’s lopsided remarks attracted serious criticism. He mentioned when Gandhi referred to Prime Minister Narendra Modi as chor (thief) when involving himself in the Rafale debate and indicating many cases, in which he made allegations concerning Chinese incursions into Indian territory.

“The Supreme Court itself pulled him up for his careless remarks,” Rijiju said, adding further that the LoP should speak with maturity and responsibility, “like an Indian first.”

Allegations of External Coordination

Advancing the attack, Rijiju went on to allege that Rahul Gandhi and the Congress were on an alignment- know or unknowingly with forces that wanted to undermine the stability of India.

He mentioned the words of the billionaire George Soros about funding efforts against the government and claimed that Khalistani groups and some leftist organizations were operating against India from abroad. “Rahul Gandhi is unfortunately walking on a very dangerous track,” warned Rijiju, judging such association to weaken India’s stand in the world.

A Call for Responsible Leadership

Finally, the Minister concluded by reiterating that he did not want to attack Rahul Gandhi personally but called for a mature and responsible Opposition leadership. “Our democracy deserves a strong opposition that constructively challenges a government, rather than weakening the country by careless words,” said Rijiju

As political temperatures are soaring, Rijiju’s remarks only underscore the growing unease within ruling circles on how the Congress under Rahul Gandhi is not only failing to function as a strong opposition but rather may unwittingly contribute to advancing narratives that do harm to India’s national interest.
