Restrictions Imposed Near LoC In Mendhar Sector To Prevent Untoward Incidents

MENDHAR/POONCH, July 1 – Concerned over security risks, residents living near the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district have been advised against visiting forest areas wearing shawls or blankets during night hours. This directive comes following an order issued by Mendhar Sub-divisional Magistrate Imran Rashid Kataria.

The order emphasizes the necessity for civilians to obtain prior permission from the Army or local police units in case of emergencies. It aims to mitigate potential risks associated with civilian movements in sensitive areas during odd hours.

According to the directive, security agencies routinely conduct operations in these forested regions to thwart any activities deemed detrimental to national security or public safety. Recent incidents, including the detention of three individuals suspected of suspicious activities in forward areas of the Mendhar sector, have underscored the need for heightened vigilance.

The order states, “No person shall visit or roam in the forest areas during late night hours from 9 pm to 4 am wearing shawls or blankets without seeking prior permission from concerned Army or police authorities.”

This proactive measure seeks to ensure the safety and security of residents while supporting ongoing efforts to maintain peace and stability in the region amidst prevailing security challenges.

Authorities continue to urge compliance with these guidelines to prevent any untoward incidents and maintain the overall security environment near the LoC.
