Republic Day Awards: CISF Officers Honored with Top National Awards

On the occasion of Republic Day 2026, twenty-nine officers and personnel of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) have been honored with prestigious national awards for their distinguished and meritorious service in safeguarding critical national infrastructure across India.

The awards, announced by the government, include the President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service, the President’s Fire Service Medal for Distinguished Service, the Police Medal for Meritorious Service, and the Fire Service Medal for Meritorious Service. The honours collectively recognize extraordinary dedication across the paramilitary force’s wide-ranging security and fire safety duties.

Who Was Honored with the Top Awards?

Senior leadership within the CISF was recognized with the highest honours. The President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service was conferred upon three senior officers: Inspector General S R Saravanan of the SS Headquarters in Chennai; Inspector General Navajyoti Gogoi of the NS Headquarters in New Delhi; and Inspector General Pratibha Agarwal of the Force Headquarters in New Delhi. The sole recipient of the President’s Fire Service Medal for Distinguished Service is Assistant Sub-Inspector (Fire) Mahendra Kumar Sharma, posted at the GSTPP Gadarwara thermal power station.

Which Personnel Received Meritorious Service Honors?

A broad spectrum of CISF personnel received medals for meritorious service, reflecting the force’s depth and diversity. A total of 24 individuals were awarded the Police Medal for Meritorious Service. Recipients range from Deputy Inspector General Dr. Dhananjaya Naik C in Ahmedabad to personnel like ASI/Fire Ravi Kumar in New Delhi, serving in roles from command to execution at locations including the Taj Mahal, Delhi Metro, and various atomic energy sites. Additionally, two officers were honored with the Fire Service Medal for Meritorious Service: Deputy Commander/Fire P Balakrishna of Bhilai and Assistant Commander/Fire Abhay Kumar Singh of the PTPS Paricha power station.
