In a chilling and dramatic video that has surfaced online, Dr Umar un Nabi, linked to the November 10 Red Fort explosion, explains his view on suicide bombing. He claims the act is misunderstood and calls it a “martyrdom operation.” Officials say the video may have been made to radicalize and brainwash others.

Investigators describe the Red Fort blast, which killed at least 14 people and injured over 20, as likely accidental. Umar had planned a larger-scale attack using the same tactics.

“Suicide Bombing Is Misunderstood,” Says Dr Umar

In the video, Umar speaks fluent English and attempts to justify his ideology.

“There are multiple arguments and contradictions that have been brought against it (suicide bombing). Martyrdom operation is when a person presumes that he is going to die for sure at a particular place at a particular time, and he goes against the presumption that a particular person is going to die. He is going to die in a particular situation,” he said.

He added, “In my case, we don’t have the situation.”

Red Fort Explosion and Terror Module

The blast ripped through a crowded street near the historic monument, shattering shopfronts and sending panic across Old Delhi. Police believe Umar was part of the “white collar” Faridabad terror module, which included 5–6 doctors from Al-Falah University. The group allegedly procured chemicals and materials for explosives using their medical credentials.

The module is linked to the Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammad terrorist group. Investigators have identified 9–10 members involved in planning attacks in Delhi.

Who Is Dr Umar?

Dr Umar hails from Koil village in Pulwama. Relatives describe him as quiet and introverted, spending long hours reading. Police sources note he became increasingly erratic in recent months. He skipped university duties from October 30 and frequently traveled between Faridabad and Delhi, visiting mosques near Ramleela Maidan and Sunehri Masjid.

He went missing on November 9 after police recovered nearly 2,900 kg of ammonium nitrate and arrested some accomplices. Umar reportedly went underground near Dhauj village, switching off five phones.

International Travel and Suspected Handlers

During investigations, authorities discovered that Umar and co-conspirator Dr Muzammil Ganaie traveled to Turkey, where their handlers are suspected to be operating. Officials continue to track their network as part of ongoing anti-terror operations.

This story highlights the dangerous ideology behind the Red Fort blast, showing how educated individuals can be radicalized. The video from Umar provides insight into the mindset of attackers and underscores the importance of vigilance against terror modules.
