Red Fort Blast Suspect Revealed: CCTV Footage Shows Masked Man in Car

The blast near the Red Fort has been directly linked by police to the Faridabad terror module exposed just hours earlier. The module, which reportedly belonged to a Kashmir-based doctor, identified as Dr. Umar Un Nabi, was cracked after the Jammu and Kashmir Police recovered a massive 3,000 kg of explosive material from two residential buildings in Faridabad, Haryana.

The explosion indeed presented a terrifying scene.ย  A high alert has been declared across Delhi and its neighboring states like Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Mumbai, and Punjab.

Red Fort Before Blast: CCTV Footageย 

According to police, CCTV footage has given investigators the key timeline leading to the explosion. The silver Hyundai i20 entered the parking area adjacent toย Sunehri Masjid at 3:19 pm and was there for more than three hours, leaving at 6:48 pm, only minutes before the blast at 7:00 pm.

The driver was captured in the footage, masked with a black face mask. Another angle showed the masked man to be definitely like the appearance of fugitive Dr. Umar Mohammad, who was suspected of terror links.

Red Fort Blast: First Suspect Revealed

The investigation rapidly focused on the first main suspect, identified by police as Dr. Umar Un Nabi from Pulwama, Kashmir. He is believed to be the person driving the car when it exploded. Dr. Umar Un Nabi was in contact with other Kashmiri doctors recently arrested for terror links.

The DMRC closed the facility of Lal Quila Metro Station on the Red Line.

Delhi Traffic Advisory

Delhi Traffic Police issued an advisory on traffic congestion on Netaji Subhash Marg fromย Chatta Rail Cut to Subhash Marg until further orders. They also asked the commuters to avoid the stretch.

Red Fort Shut Down

The ASI shut down the Red Fort for the next three days to reduce public gathering and facilitate the investigation process concerning the horrific car explosion.
