The National Investigation Agency (NIA) ramped up its efforts in the Reasi pilgrims’ terror attack case by conducting multiple raids across the Reasi and Rajouri districts of Jammu & Kashmir on Friday. The searches are part of the investigation into the deadly June 9th attack on a bus carrying Yatris, which was a grim reminder of the ongoing efforts to destabilize the region through terror-driven conspiracies.
In an official statement, the NIA revealed that its teams raided seven locations linked to suspected terrorists and Overground Workers (OGWs) involved in the attack. The case, RC-02/2024/NIA/JMU, was handed over to the NIA earlier this year. During the searches, incriminating material was seized, further strengthening the probe into the nexus between terrorists and local collaborators.
The focus of these raids was on the residential premises of hybrid terrorists and OGWs who played a critical role in aiding the attackers. The NIA’s investigations uncovered that the attackers, supported by one of the arrested individuals, Hakam Khan alias Hakim Din, received shelter and logistical assistance during their time in the area. Khan’s role in harboring the terrorists is seen as pivotal to the execution of the attack, which targeted pilgrims returning from the revered Shiv Khori shrine to Katra.
