Bollywood actor Raveena Tandon and her driver were embroiled in a road rage incident on Saturday night at Carter Road in Khar. The confrontation occurred after Tandon’s car allegedly knocked down a woman inside a building premises.
According to a Mumbai police officer, the driver allegedly hit the woman while reversing the car to park it. A video that went viral on social media shows a woman claiming that Tandon and her driver assaulted her, causing her nose to bleed.
In the video, the woman’s son, identified as Muhammed, recounted the incident which happened while he was walking with his mother, sister, and niece near Tandon’s house. “When we confronted him, the driver assaulted my niece and my mother. Raveena Tandon, herself, who was in an inebriated state, also stepped out and brutally assaulted my mother and niece,” Muhammed stated. He added that they had been at the Khar police station for four hours without a complaint being lodged, and were instead offered to settle the dispute privately.
Both parties eventually arrived at the Khar police station to file separate complaints. However, Deputy Commissioner of Police Raj Tilak Roushan (Zone 9) reported that they later agreed to a compromise. “The matter has been resolved now. Both parties have told us in writing that they do not want to lodge any complaint against each other,” said DCP Roushan.
The police are still verifying the details of the incident, including whether Tandon’s driver indeed knocked down the woman and the assault claims.
