YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia, better known by BeerBiceps, is in hot water after controversial remarks he made during an episode of comedian Samay Raina’s YouTube show India’s Got Latent. The controversy has seen complaints lodged against him, against the host Raina and other panellist judges that appeared on the show with this 31-year-old podcaster.
Social Media Backlash and Follower Losses
Allahbadia is a prominent YouTuber and social media personality who popularized his podcast and digital content. He lost a lot of the fan base and credibility through his recent statements on social media.
According to Qoruz, an influencer marketing intelligence platform, Allahbadia has lost more than 8,000 followers in two of his Instagram profiles over the past five days. His BeerBiceps account lost 4,205 followers, and his profile, Ranveer Allahbadia, lost 4,153. While some reports claimed that the podcaster had lost around 20 lakh subscribers across his YouTube channels, others deny it.
However, his viewership has been seen to decline significantly. Allahbadia’s YouTube channel BeerBiceps has lost about 40,000 subscribers, and on all social media platforms, he has reportedly lost 56,000 followers. This is a huge loss in the aftermath of the controversy.
The Inappropriate Comment That Caused Outrage
The issue at hand arose during a viral clip from India’s Got Latent, wherein Allahbadia asked a contestant a very inappropriate and controversial question: “Would you rather watch your parents have sex every day for the rest of your life or join in once and stop it forever?”
He continued by saying that the remark quickly became viral. It sparked waves of outrage on the social media sites. Different social media websites came forth with calls for boycotting the podcaster and automatically following his campaign. The backlash was so fierce that it caught the attention of politicians. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis commented about the issue and fueled the controversy.
Ranveer Allahbadia Apologizes for His Comments
As outrage grew, Allahbadia put up an apology on his social media accounts. In a 52-second video posted on Instagram and X (formerly Twitter), he admitted that his comment was inappropriate and out of line.
My comment wasn’t funny; it was inappropriate. I am not funny. I just am going to say sorry,” Allahbadia said in the video. He continued and said that he fully takes the blame for the mishap and stated that it “wasn’t cool” of him to have done that.
He further added, “The podcast is watched by people of all age groups and I don’t want to take that responsibility lightly. Family is the last thing I would disrespect.” Even though he apologized, the damage was done, and the controversy continued to dominate social media.
Impact on Ranveer Allahbadia’s Brand Partnerships
While some influencers do well from controversies because they garner engagement, the case of Ranveer Allahbadia raises the larger question of cancel culture and the predicament it creates for the content creator. Experts believe the after-effects will not be kind to his brand collaborations, more so with the brands that stress the importance of brand safety.
Allahbadia has collaborated with several major brands, such as Spotify, Mountain Dew, Amazon Prime Video, Intel, and Wow Skin Science. Marketing professionals, however, warn that after this incident, brands will be more reluctant to collaborate with the YouTuber.
Yasin Hamidani, Director of Media Care Brand Solutions, said that because of the current controversy, brands may put on hold or rethink their decision to work with Allahbadia. He added, “While his strong personal brand and loyal audience may mitigate some damage, companies—especially those with strict brand safety policies—might think twice about collaborating.
According to Mohit Ghate, co-founder of the creative agency Wit & Chai, Allahbadia’s case explains why a content creator needs to be both authentic and accountable. “The takeaway from this incident is that the mic is always on, the internet never forgets, and cancel culture doesn’t issue warnings. Relevance isn’t just about being loud; it’s about being wise,” he said.
Celebrities and Collaborators Distance Themselves
As the row went public, some of Allahbadia’s scheduled collaborations began to unravel. One such person was singer B Praak, who was supposed to feature on Allahbadia’s podcast. Praak cancelled his appearance after the furore. Praak accused Allahbadia of propagating “Sanatan Dharma” while continuing to make lewd remarks. He asked how Allahbadia could be espousing spiritual values and yet being so ill-judged.

“Aur yeh Ranveer Allahbadia, aap Sanatan Dharma ko promote karte ho, spirituality ki baat karte ho. Aapke podcast pe itne bade-bade log aate hain, itne bade sant aate hain, aur fir bhi aapki soch itni ghatiya hai? (You promote Sanatan Dharma and host so many influential people, still, your thinking is so shoddy),” Praak said.
Legal Trouble and Ongoing Investigations
In addition to the social media backlash, Allahbadia is now facing legal consequences. The Mumbai Police have initiated an investigation after lawyers Ashish Rai and Pankaj Mishra filed a complaint against Allahbadia, Raina, and other content creators involved in the episode for their use of “abusive language” and “obscene” remarks regarding parents, women, and their body parts.

The police have been to the Habitat building in Khar, where the controversial episode was shot, but haven’t filed an FIR yet. However, the Assam Police did file an FIR against Allahbadia, Raina, and others. This complaint was lodged by Alok Boruah, a resident of Guwahati, claiming the comments caused “serious harm to public decency.” Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma confirmed via X that an FIR was indeed filed.
