Rajya Sabha passes Bill to empower Commander-in-Chief of Inter-Services Organizations

The Commander-in-Chief and Officer-in-Command of Inter-Services Organizations (ISOs) will now have complete disciplinary and administrative authority over all personnel serving in or attached to such organizations, according to a bill that the Rajya Sabha approved on Tuesday.

The Inter-Services Organisations (Command, Control and Discipline) Bill, 2023 was passed by voice vote. Earlier, the Bill was passed by the Lok Sabha on August 4.
Replying to the debate, Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said the government is ready to take each and every step for the welfare of the forces.

The Bill, according to Singh, is one of several military reforms being carried out by the government, under the direction of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, with the goal of empowering the country. He characterized the bill as a significant step toward greater jointness and integration among the armed forces in order to better meet upcoming challenges. The bill aims to grant all disciplinary and administrative authority over the personnel serving in or attached to Inter-Services Organizations (ISOs) to the Commander-in-Chief and Officer-in-Command.
