The Defence Minister, Rajnath Singh, will embark on an official three-day visit to the Maldives between May 1 and May 3,, as per the government release on Sunday.
The Union Minister of Defence will hold bilateral talks with his Maldivian counterpart, Mariya Ahmed Didi, and MFA Abdulla Shahid during the visit. “The entire gamut of defence relations between the two countries will be reviewed during the deliberations, as per the government release.
“Rajnath Singh will also call on Maldivian President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih,” the statement said.
”In tune with India’s commitment to capacity building of friendly countries and partners in the region,” the release continued, “Minister Rajnath Singh will gift one fast patrol vessel ship and a landing craft to the Maldives National Defence Forces.”
He will also connect with the Indian diaspora and tour active project sites while in the country. The statement continued, “The visit of the defence minister will represent a significant turning point in the development of the deep friendship between the two nations.
