Rajasthan has been ravaged by torrential rains, which have caused serious floods in a number of regions. Hundreds of residents were relocated to safer areas, and at least two women have died. Kota, Bundi, Sawai Madhopur, Tonk, Karauli, and Jaipur all have low-lying parts that are still underwater. Road and rail traffic was disrupted, and several villages were cut off due to waterlogging.

In Bundi district, a 50-year-old woman named Kailshibai was swept away by floodwaters. Another victim, 65-year-old Manbharbai, died after a tin shed collapsed on her farm. Officials confirmed both deaths as rescue efforts continued through the day.

Over 500 People Rescued

The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) worked around the clock to move people to safety. Nearly 500 residents were rescued in Bundi’s Nainwa and Keshoraipatan blocks. Relief camps were set up for affected families.

The Indian Army launched rescue operations in flood-hit regions. A Mi-17 helicopter was kept at Kota airfield for emergency relief drops. Sources said the Indian Air Force is ready for more sorties if the situation worsens.

Leaders Visit Flood-Hit Areas

Lok Sabha Speaker and Kota-Bundi MP Om Birla visited Bundi to review the situation. He instructed officials to speed up rehabilitation work. Rajasthan’s Disaster Relief Minister Kirodi Meena and Home Minister Jawahar Singh Bedham also conducted aerial surveys. They spoke with villagers to assure them of government support.

The Meteorological Department reported an alarming 502 mm of rainfall in Bundi’s Nainwa block in just 24 hours. Officials warned of more heavy to very heavy rain in the southern and southeastern districts till Tuesday.

Dams and Rivers Overflowing

Authorities opened six gates of the Bisalpur Dam and two gates of the Kota Barrage to release excess water. This has raised water levels in rivers and canals. In Dholpur district, the Chambal River rose two meters above the danger mark, sparking fresh concerns.

Major roadways, such as the Jaipur-Kota highway and the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, have been obstructed and destroyed by flooding. Relief teams are attempting to contact trapped residents in several villages where connectivity is still poor.
With more rain on the horizon, the situation in Rajasthan is still dire. As thousands wait for help, the Army, the IAF, and rescue crews are on high alert.
