A 70-year-old man and his wife allegedly died by suicide by jumping into the water tank of their home in Nagaur, Rajasthan, as reported by police on Thursday. The couple, Hazariram Bishnoi (70) and Chawali Devi (68), left behind suicide notes accusing their sons, daughters-in-law, and other relatives of harassment over property disputes.
The notes, found pasted throughout their home in Karni Colony, reveal the emotional distress the couple endured due to family conflicts. Concerned neighbors, who hadn’t seen the couple for two days, informed their son. He then alerted the local police, who discovered the couple’s bodies floating in the water tank with the lid left open.
Station House Officer Manish Dev confirmed that the bodies were retrieved and sent for autopsy. “While the autopsy of Vishnoi’s body has been completed, that of his wife’s will be done on Friday morning,” Dev told PTI.
The note left behind by Vishnoi detailed the alleged harassment by his sons and relatives, according to the SHO. An investigation into the incident is ongoing, with authorities working to uncover more details surrounding the tragedy.
