Truck-tanker drivers hailing from Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Delhi, and several other regions are engaged in ongoing protests against the recent “Hit and Run” law introduced by the Central Government. The strike persists across these states.
In the midst of this, Lok Sabha MP Rahul Gandhi has criticized the BJP, accusing the Central Government of hastily altering the Indian Judicial Code. This swift action, he claims, has led to growing dissatisfaction among truck drivers. Rahul Gandhi wrote on the social media site, “The insistence on making laws without discussion with the affected class and without dialogue with the opposition is a continuous attack on the soul of democracy.”
Taking a jibe at PM Modi, he wrote, “When more than 150 MPs were suspended, the emperor in the Parliament made such a law against the drivers, the backbone of the Indian economy, the consequences of which can be fatal.”Rahul Gandhi has held the central government responsible for the strike of truck drivers across the country.
He said, “Putting this hard-working class with limited income in the furnace of harsh law can badly affect their lives. And at the same time, misuse of this law can give rise to ‘extortion mechanism’ along with organized corruption. The government, which operates democracy with a whip, has forgotten the difference between ‘Shehanshah Ke Farmaan ‘ and ‘justice.’
