During the week’s course of events in the Voter Adhikar Yatra of the Opposition on Sunday, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi caught the attention of all by motorcycling with RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav on an Araria street in the Purnea district of Bihar. The two leaders were together with other leaders from other parties of the INDIA bloc and attracted an audience of excited supporters who came to the roadside to welcome them.
Video footage disseminated from the official Congress handle showed the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha at the front of the convoy, symbolically taking the movement there to the populace directly. Other leaders followed him riding on two-wheelers, giving the grassroots feel to the rally.

Route of the Yatra and Political
The 1,300-kilometer Voter Adhikar Yatra, which was supposed to begin from Sasaram on August 17, is expected to cross more than 20 districts in Bihar in 16 days before finally reaching Patna on September 1.
The march has been pitched as a protest vis-a-vis ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in the state, which opposition parties claim is manipulated to help the ruling BJP.
Joint Voice of the Opposition
Later in the afternoon, Gandhi and Yadav hold a joint press conference in Araria with other leaders of the INDIA bloc. The entire message, as per them, remains saving democracy and the Constitution at all costs.

During a rally in Katihar the day before, Gandhi accused the BJP of trying to steal votes in Bihar, claiming such actions damage chances for all poor and marginalized. He asserted that BJP and RSS have an implicit agenda of restricting the upward mobility of the Dalits, backward classes and women. “They are bent on disintegrating the Constitution and closing opportunities,” proclaimed Gandhi.
Rallying Through the Heart of Bihar
The yatra has already traversed important stops including Panchmukhi Mandir, Forbesganj Road, Hope Hospital Chowk, Rambagh, Kasba Bazaar and Zero Mile, before landing in Araria. At every stop, the leaders engaged the crowds with calls to amplify the protection of voting rights.
Earlier, Gandhi had shared a five-minute video on X, where he was seen engaging with the youth in Aurangabad. He urged citizens to vote for good and described the ballot as the weapon to protect “Mother India and its Constitution.”
As the Voter Adhikar Yatra heads toward Patna for its grand finale, it is obvious that the Opposition intends to make this exercise both a highly symbolic and practical pushback against the ruling party. With motorcycles and rallies and mass outreach, the exercise underscores the stakes in Bihar’s electoral politics in the months to come.
