Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has announced a new initiative, the “Bharat Dojo Yatra,” through a video shared on his official X account. This announcement comes after he released footage of his martial arts training sessions conducted during the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra earlier this year.
A Look at the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra
During the over two-month-long Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra from Manipur to Mumbai, Gandhi integrated daily jiu-jitsu practice into his routine. What started as a personal fitness activity evolved into a community event, involving fellow travelers and local martial arts students in the towns visited along the journey.
The Upcoming ‘Bharat Dojo Yatra’
Gandhi revealed that the “Bharat Dojo Yatra” will build on the martial arts focus of his previous yatra. He shared that, during the sessions, he taught children various techniques and emphasized the value of martial arts in fostering non-violent conflict resolution. Gandhi mentioned his qualifications, noting that he holds a blue belt in jiu-jitsu and is a black belt in Aikido.
Promoting the ‘Gentle Art’
In his video, Gandhi highlighted the goal of blending meditation with martial arts, aiming to instill values of gentleness and compassion. He hopes this initiative will inspire others to engage in martial arts, promoting a safer and more empathetic society.
Reflection on National Sports Day
On National Sports Day, Gandhi’s video not only reflects on the past experiences of the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra but also serves as a call to action for adopting the practice of martial arts.
