Gandhi stated at the Annual Legal Conclave 2025 in Delhi, citing purported inconsistencies, “We are going to prove how a Lok Sabha election can be, and was, rigged.” I have complete proof; therefore, I can say this now. The person to whom I showed it has physically collapsed.

The ECI denied the claims, describing them as “baseless.” In a statement released on August 1, the polling organization said, “The Election Commission ignores such baseless allegations being made daily and, despite the daily threats being given, asks all election officials to ignore such irresponsible statements and work fairly and transparently.”
Rahul Gandhi’s Accusations Understandably Jolt Indian Democracy
Addressing the Annual Legal Conclave in New Delhi, Congress Leader of the House Rahul Gandhi accused the Election Commission of committing the crime of electoral fraud in 2024 Lok Sabha elections. He stated that the election machinery of India stands in essence “dead” whereby at least fifteen parliamentary seats were manipulated, to which their win was a deciding factor. He stated that his party now had concrete evidence of this crime, calling it “an atom bomb” of evidence to nail the Election Commission.
Gandhi alleged: “With only 15 seats rigged, Modi wouldn’t be Prime Minister,” implying the fraud was systemic and consequential. He further added that reviewing the voter rolls and electoral data led Congress to discover about 150,000 fake votes, raising questions of malpractice on a massive scale in many states.
According to Gandhi, the probe revealed that out of 6.5 lakh votes cast, 1.5 lakh were allegedly fake. “We believe close to 70 to 100 seats were rigged. Even if only 15 seats were tampered with, Narendra Modi would not be the Prime Minister of India,” he said.
Election Front Responds of Refuting Accusation, Maintains Fairness
Rejecting the allegations against them, the EC has called for all stakeholders to maintain impartiality. The Election Commission (EC) immediately rebutted Gandhi’s statements, calling them “wild” and “baseless.” The official communication of the Election Commission then went on to criticize the Leader of the Opposition for threatening its officials and remind all polling officials to work fairly and transparently.
Meanwhile, leaders of various opposition parties, including Chief Minister Siddaramaiah of Karnataka and Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut, stood behind Gandhi’s allegations, asserting that vote rigging spread from states like Maharashtra and is perhaps moving to Bihar next in line. Confirming discussions between him and Gandhi along with party leadership on possible legal and political actions, Siddaramaiah stated the discussions are still ongoing.
