Three days after Indian tennis player Radhika Yadav’s tragic death, a video posted on Instagram by a user named Himaanshika Singh is gaining attention online. The young woman in the video claims to be Radhika’s best friend and speaks emotionally about her murder.
In her first video, Himaanshika says, “You must have heard a lot about Radhika Singh, but let me tell you the truth about Radhika Yadav. My name is Himaanshika Singh. Radhika was my best friend. We had been very close for 8–10 years, and now I’ve lost her.”
Alongside this video, she posted another clip showing happy moments shared with Radhika — including old photos and short videos. Her message reveals disturbing claims about Radhika’s personal life “My best friend Radhika was murdered by her own father. He shot her five times. Four bullets hit her,” she wrote in the caption. “He had been mentally tormenting her for years. He always tried to control her life and constantly criticised her.”
According to Himaanshika, Radhika’s father disliked her independence and had trouble accepting her growing success as a tennis player and coach. “She worked hard and even opened her own tennis academy. But her family and some jealous people couldn’t handle her freedom. They judged her for wearing shorts, talking to boys, and simply living her life.”
Radhika was rushed to the hospital after the shooting but sadly did not survive.
In the video, Himaanshika describes Radhika as sweet, talented, and hardworking. “She was an international tennis player and a wonderful coach. Her students loved and respected her,” she said.
However, she added that Radhika’s life at home was stifling. “She had been suffering silently. Her parents, especially her father, had very strict rules. Even though her tennis academy was just 50 meters away from their home, she had to leave and return at exact times.”
Even simple things like talking on the phone came under scrutiny. “She often had to show her phone screen during video calls to prove who she was talking to,” Himaanshika revealed.
She also mentioned that Radhika’s father once dropped her off at the shoot of a viral music video. But later, he objected to her participation, fearing what others might say.
Radhika Yadav was shot and killed on June 10 at her home in Gurugram. Her father, Deepak Yadav, was arrested the same day. During interrogation, he admitted to the crime, reportedly saying he was frustrated by the public criticism he faced for being financially dependent on his daughter. An official investigation into the murder is still ongoing.
