In response to the widespread flooding in Punjab, the Punjab Animal Husbandry Department has set up special relief camps to protect and treat animals affected by the crisis. This initiative was reported by the Directorate of Information and Public Relations and includes the deployment of rescue teams working continuously to supply feed, fodder, and silage to animals in need.
Efforts are also underway to prevent the spread of diseases due to flood water, with 4285 animals vaccinated so far. Additionally, a total of 2874 animals have received treatment. Tragically, the floods have led to the deaths of 4 cows, 1 buffalo, and around 5000 poultry birds.
The flooding, spurred by heavy rainfall, has resulted in disastrous conditions in several areas of Punjab, including Patiala and Sangrur. The current crisis has affected four states—Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, and Himachal Pradesh—creating a multi-region disaster scenario.
