The Congress has released its list of candidates for the upcoming Punjab assembly by-elections, scheduled for November 13. The list includes contenders for four key constituencies: Dera Baba Nanak, Chabbewal, Gidderbaha, and Barnala.
Amrita Warring, wife of former MLA Raja Singh Warring, has been fielded from Gidderbaha. Jatinder Kaur will contest from Dera Baba Nanak, Ranjit Kumar from Chabbewal, and Kuldeep Singh Dhillon from Barnala.
These seats fell vacant after the respective MLAs were elected to the Lok Sabha. Notably, the Gidderbaha seat became vacant when Congress MLA Amrinder Singh Raja Warring won the Ludhiana parliamentary seat in 2024, while the Barnala seat opened after AAP’s Gurmeet Singh Hayer was elected to the Sangrur constituency. Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa’s election to the Gurdaspur Lok Sabha seat left Dera Baba Nanak vacant. Vote counting will be held on November 23.
