Concerned about the deteriorating health of farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal, the Punjab government directed the district administration to meet with Dallewal at the protest site near the Khanauri border, Dhabi Gujjran. The team included SSP Patiala Dr. Nanak Singh, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Isha Singal, and SDM Patran Ashok Kumar.
On Friday, a high-level medical team constituted by the Punjab government also examined Dallewal’s health, collected blood samples, and urged him to seek immediate medical treatment. The team reiterated their appeal for proper medical care, emphasizing the critical nature of his health condition.
The farmer leader, currently on a hunger strike, and his supporters, however, declined the administration’s offer of assistance.
The Punjab government has already deployed a medical team from Rajindra Medical College and Mata Kaushalya Hospital, Patiala, to monitor Dallewal’s health continuously. Additionally, two Advanced Life Support (ALS) ambulances and medical teams are stationed 24/7 at the protest site. A temporary hospital equipped with emergency medicines and medical equipment has also been set up nearby, staffed by expert doctors round the clock.
The team present at the site included Civil Surgeon Dr. Jagpalinder Singh, Deputy Medical Superintendent and Associate Professor of Anesthesia Dr. Gurjeet Singh Gandhi, Associate Professor of Surgery Dr. Dinesh Kumar Pasi, Associate Professor of Medicine Dr. Manjinder Singh Mann, and Orthopedics Medical Officer Dr. Nirmal Das. From Mata Kaushalya Hospital, SMO Dr. Vikas Goel, SMO Dr. Shelly Jaitly of CHC Badshahpur, ECG Technician Mandeep Singh, and Lab Technician Yogesh Sharma were also present.
Despite the administration’s efforts, the farmer leader remains steadfast in his protest, drawing attention to his deteriorating health and the urgency of resolving the issues at hand.
