Pune Porsche Accident: Friends Reveal Accused Teen Was Drunk

In a new development in the Pune Porsche accident case, two friends of the 17-year-old boy, who accidentally crashed into a motorcycle, killing two 24-year-old tech professionals, informed the police that the accused was intoxicated at the time of the incident, according to sources cited by NDTV.

The accident resulted in the deaths of IT professionals Aneesh Awadhiya and Ashwini Koshta, who were thrown into the air and landed on parked vehicles. One died on the spot, while the other succumbed to injuries during treatment. Both victims were from Madhya Pradesh.

The two friends were passengers in the supercar.

An autorickshaw driver, who narrowly avoided the same fate, told News18 that the three boys in the car appeared visibly drunk. Ameen reported that after the crash, the boys urged the crowd not to make an “issue” and promised to cover the damages immediately.

He claimed the car was traveling at over 200 kmph and noted that one of the boys initially fled but later returned.

The police reported that CCTV footage showed the three boys drinking at two bars before the accident.

Initially, the accused was released by the Juvenile Justice Board with the condition that he write an essay on road safety. However, following public outcry, he was sent to a reform home until June 5.

The boy’s father was later arrested for negligence, and his grandfather was detained for attempting to coerce their driver into taking the blame. The mother is now also under police scrutiny.

The police informed a local court that the boy’s blood sample was swapped with that of an unidentified woman, suspected to be his mother.

According to PTI, all blood samples from the car occupants tested negative.

“After the accident, the (Yerawada) police station had sent the juvenile, his two friends who were with him in the car, and (family) driver to Sassoon General Hospital for giving blood samples. Of these samples, the juvenile’s blood sample was swapped. Their (other three samples’) results also came nil (no traces of alcohol were found),” an officer told the news agency.

“We are probing how their results also came negative,” he added.

Two doctors and a hospital employee have already been arrested for manipulating the boy’s blood sample to suggest he wasn’t drunk at the time of the accident.
