During a rally in Khairagarh, Chhattisgarh, Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra announced several initiatives if her party comes to power. She unveiled a plan to provide a subsidy of Rs 500 on household cylinders to women through the “Mahatari Anyay Yojna.” Additionally, she pledged an electricity subsidy for up to 200 units of consumption, benefiting 44 lakh residents in Chhattisgarh.
Gandhi criticised the BJP in the state and stressed that public funds should serve the public, not billionaires. She outlined various guarantees for the people of Chhattisgarh, promising to implement these measures once the Congress regains power after the elections.
The announced initiatives include the waiver of debt for self-help groups run by women and debt incurred by women under the “Sakhsham Yojana.” To boost the rural economy, 700 new rural industrial parks will be established in the state, increasing the total to 1,000.
To promote the English language in schools, all 6,000 high and higher secondary schools in Chhattisgarh will be upgraded to Atmanand English and Hindi Medium Schools. Road accident victims will receive free medical treatment.
Later, Gandhi praised Chhattisgarh as a role model for the entire country and mentioned that Raipur had been recognised as an excellent place for business. She critiqued the Gujarat Model, stating that it had caused problems at the national level.
She reiterated her party’s stance on conducting a caste census in India to ensure fair representation for backward classes. Gandhi also discussed the “Old Pension Scheme” for government employees, noting that it was already in place in Congress-ruled states like Himachal Pradesh and Rajasthan.
In her closing remarks, she urged the people to vote wisely to continue the state’s development and emphasized that voting for the Congress was crucial for this purpose. The event was attended by Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, senior leader Charan Dass Mahant, and others.
