Priyanka Gandhi Vadra: BJP, BRS joined hands to keep hold of power at Centre, Telangana

Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra took aim at the ruling BRS in Telangana on Tuesday, claiming that corruption was rife under Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao’s administration. The state is facing an impending election. Before the Telangana Assembly elections on November 30, the Congress has accused the BJP of working together with the ruling party. Priyanka, however, attacked the BJP and asserted that both parties’ only goal is to hold onto power.

Addressing a public meeting at Zaheerabad in Telangana on Tuesday, the Congress national general secretary said, “Corruption is rampant in the state on the watch of this government. Commissions are being taken in lieu of projects, both big and small. For big projects, thousands of crores (in commissions) are going into the pockets of some leaders. Such is the level of inflation these days that common people are literally at pains to make ends meet.”

The Congress leader asserted that the BJP and BRS have united for the shared goal of maintaining control over the federal government and the state, saying, “The BJP and BRS joined hands with the common cause of staying in power at the federal government and the state.” Here in Telangana, the BRS has the fattest purse, but the BJP is the richest party in the nation. But in reality, the money they possess is the common man’s. These money ought to have gone toward paying government employees’ pensions and writing off farmer loans. The money of the people is returned to them by our governments.”
