Russian President Vladimir Putin sent warm wishes to President Droupadi Murmu and PM Narendra Modi praising India-Russia ties.
On India’s 79th Independence Day, Russian President Vladimir Putin sent warm wishes to President Droupadi Murmu and PM Narendra Modi. He praised India’s progress in economic, scientific, and technical areas. He said India has earned respect around the world and helps solve major global problems.
Putin spoke about the “privileged strategic partnership” between India and Russia. He said he is confident that both countries will work together more in many fields. He added that this would help both nations and make the region and the world more stable. The Russian Embassy in India posted its message on Telegram.
Putin’s message comes during a tense time in India’s foreign relations. Ties between India and the US have been under stress after US President Donald Trump put a 50 per cent tariff on Indian goods. The step was linked to India’s ongoing purchase of Russian oil, which has also caused tension in the global economy.

By sending this public message, Russia is showing clear support for India. It also shows Moscow's move to maintain close relations with India despite Western pressure.
At the Red Fort, PM Modi hoisted the Tricolour and gave a speech to the nation. Without naming the US, he said he would fight against any policy that could hurt Indian farmers, livestock owners, or fishermen.
“Modi will stand like a wall against any move that harms them,” he said. He called for self-reliance in all areas and urged India to produce high-quality goods at affordable prices. He summed this up as “Daam kam, dum zyaada” — lower cost, higher value.
Modi told Indians not to waste time trying to pull others down. Instead, he said they should focus on improving their abilities. “We must extend our line with full energy. The world will respect our strength,” he said.

Putin’s warm greeting and Modi’s speech show how India needs to protect its economy and have to maintain good relations with Russia and the US. In the Indo-Pacific, the US is essential for trade and security, while Russia is a key ally for defense and energy.
India aims to maintain its emphasis on its interests while managing both relationships. The Independence Day messages demonstrate Russia’s faith in India and its determination to face external pressure.
