Prime Minister Modi to Visit Nigeria, Brazil, and Guyana from 16-21 November

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will undertake a significant diplomatic visit to Nigeria, Brazil, and Guyana from November 16 to 21, 2024, to strengthen bilateral relations and engage in key international summits.

Visit to Nigeria (Nov 16-17, 2024)

At the invitation of Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Prime Minister Modi will visit Nigeria for the first time in 17 years. The visit aims to review the strategic partnership between India and Nigeria, which has seen growing collaboration in sectors such as energy, defence, and economic development. India and Nigeria have maintained a strong partnership since 2007, with over 200 Indian companies investing more than USD 27 billion in Nigeria. During the visit, the Prime Minister will also address the Indian community in Nigeria.

G20 Summit in Brazil (Nov 18-19, 2024)

Following his visit to Nigeria, the Prime Minister will travel to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, to attend the G20 Summit hosted by President Luis Inacio Lula Da Silva. As part of the G20 Troika, alongside Brazil and South Africa, India has been actively involved in shaping discussions at the summit. Prime Minister Modi will highlight India’s position on various global issues and build upon the outcomes from India’s previous G20-hosted events, including the Voice of the Global South Summit. He is also expected to meet several world leaders during the summit.

State Visit to Guyana (Nov 19-21, 2024)

From November 19 to 21, Prime Minister Modi will visit Guyana at the invitation of President Mohamed Irfaan Ali, marking the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister since 1968. This visit follows President Ali’s 2023 trip to India, where he was awarded the Pravasi Bharatiya Samman. During his stay, Prime Minister Modi will engage in high-level discussions with President Ali and other senior leaders, and will address the Parliament of Guyana and the Indian diaspora. The Prime Minister will also participate in the Second CARICOM-India Summit to further bolster India’s ties with Caribbean nations.

This diplomatic tour underscores India’s growing global influence and commitment to strengthening ties with key regions around the world.
