The national Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas festivities will begin on Tuesday with President Droupadi Murmu decorating a statue of the Indian tribal independence hero Birsa Munda in his birthplace, the Ulihatu hamlet in the Khunti region of Jharkhand.
“This Gaurav Diwas (Day of Pride) must reach one and all. It is important for all of us that we offer our respects to those freedom fighters hailing from tribal communities who laid down their lives for the country. I implore one and all to ensure that they participate in celebrating this Gaurav Diwas,” union minister for tribal affairs, Arjun Munda said.
To mark the occasion of Jan Jatiya Gaurav Diwas, President tweeted, “On Janjatiya Gaurav Divas, my greetings to fellow citizens, especially brothers and sisters of the tribal society! Tribal communities have enriched the life of the nation with their arts, crafts and hard work. Their lifestyle offers the world lessons in nurturing nature.”
An official statement states that the President will attend the civic reception at Raj Bhavan in Bhopal where she would lay the cornerstones for initiatives of the union ministries of defence and road transport and roads.
Over 270 projects totaling more than 7,000 crore will be introduced.
On Wednesday, President Murmu will speak at a sammelan for women’s self-help groups in Bhopal before departing for the national Capital.
Munda said cultural programs, workshops, sports activities and painting competitions will be organised at both the state and national levels lasting an entire week from November 15 to November 22.
Adi-Chitra Utsav, a national residential painting competition, and an essay writing contest for pupils of Eklavya Model Residential Schools will all be organised beginning on Tuesday.
There will also be the national tribal food festival, which attempts to honour the variety of tribal foods found throughout India.
For Jan Jatiya Gaurav Diwas, there will be a colloquium and cultural event, a tribal book fair, and dance performances. On November 21, 2022, a National Conclave of Elected Women Representatives will also occur.
The Madhya Pradesh government will also introduce four programmes: Eklavya Prasikshan Yojana (EPY), Mukhya Mantri Shiksha Prothsahan Yojana (MMSPY), Guruji Student Credit Card Yojana (GSCCY), and Mukhya Mantri Sarathi Yojana from the Department of Labor (MMSY).
