The Haryana Congress has been waiting for the formation of its organisation for the past nine and a half years.
Now, the party’s leadership is preparing a blueprint for the same in Delhi. So far, 60% of reports have been submitted to Haryana Congress in-charge Deepak Babaria by the Central Coordinators. An important fact to note is that two lists each in the names of district heads have reached Babariya. The first report was drafted by Central Coordinators and the second report by the Observers of the Haryana Congress Committee.
These reports are to reach the party in-charge today, 13 September. After this, a decision on the lists will be taken after opinion polling within the Congress Working Committee (CWC). Babaria is due to receive all the reports regarding the Haryana organisation by the evening of 13 September. Following this, he will leave for Gujarat on 14 September. He will attend the CWC meeting in Hyderabad on 16 September. In this meeting, he will discuss the names of district presidents with senior Congress leaders. The names of 33 district presidents are to be announced in all the 22 districts of the state.
The most important thing in this exercise of forming an organisation is that the list of the districts where consensus has been reached is expected to be released by 20 September, but the list of the districts where consensus cannot be reached will be sent to the high command for consensus. After this, the names will be decided by the central leadership. There is a possibility that Babaria will submit the list to the central leadership while in Hyderabad.
As for the protests in the districts regarding the Haryana Congress organisation, Deepak Babaria has bluntly asked Randeep Surjewala, Selja Kumari and Kiran Choudhary whether they are willing to work according to the local leaders in whichever state they are placed in. He said, “If they had any objection to any of my decisions, they could have met me and then went to meet the National President.”
Deepak Babaria added that supporters of different factions have raised slogans “in front of me also”. “This is their democratic right,” he said. Babaria added that since this was a party-level matter, no notices were issued against any leader.
