A fire erupted today at the Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh. Several fire engines were dispatched to put out the flames. The event took place in Sector 18 of the Maha Kumbh Nagar region.

So far, no casualties have been reported.

Inspector Yogesh Chaturvedi from Khak Chowk police station, quoted by PTI, mentioned, “A fire started at a camp near Tulsi Chauraha on Old GT Road. Nonetheless, firefighters have succeeded in bringing the blaze mostly under control. ”

As per the Uttar Pradesh government, over 397. 4 million devotees have taken a holy dip at the sacred meeting point of the Ganga, Yamuna, and the mythical Saraswati during the ongoing Maha Kumbh. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also took part in the ritual on Wednesday.

This incident occurs a week after a fire broke out in Prayagraj’s Chatnag Ghat area, where 15 tents were set ablaze. No casualties were noted, and the fire was quickly controlled. Subsequently, authorities discovered that the tents involved were unauthorized.

Previously, on January 29, a stampede at Maha Kumbh resulted in 30 fatalities and left 60 individuals injured.

In reaction, the Uttar Pradesh government declared a compensation of ₹25 lakh for the families of the victims. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath directed a judicial inquiry, stating that a judicial committee would present its findings to the state government within a designated timeframe.

The Maha Kumbh, which commenced on January 13, is set to continue until February 26. The remaining significant bathing dates are February 12 (Maghi Purnima) and February 26 (Maha Shivaratri).
