Bhubaneswar, Odisha, is set to host the 18th edition of Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (PBD) from January 8 to 10, 2025. External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, who arrived in the city on Monday with his wife, Kyoko Jaishankar, expressed his admiration for the grand arrangements made by Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and his team.
“It will be a great Pravasi Bharatiya Divas,” Jaishankar told ANI. “The Chief Minister and his team have done a fantastic job. The preparations are both grand and beautiful.”
A Platform for Diaspora Recognition
The event, themed “Diaspora’s Contribution to a Viksit Bharat,” aims to strengthen ties between India and its global Indian community. It also serves as a platform to honor the contributions of the diaspora to India’s growth and development.
Odisha Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja emphasized the importance of the event, calling it an opportunity to showcase the state to the world. “We are ready for the mega event,” Ahuja stated on Sunday, highlighting the meticulous planning and preparations underway.

The Ministry of External Affairs has outlined a detailed program for the three-day event. Key sessions will focus on the role of the Indian diaspora in technology, innovation, and socio-economic development. The convention will bring together eminent members of the Indian diaspora, business leaders, and policymakers.
