Political tussle started over  killing of UP’s Unnao journalist

Mannu Awasthi, a 25-year-old journalist, was shot late on Saturday night in Uttar Pradesh’s Unnao district. Regarding this incident, SP supremo Akhilesh Yadav has targeted the government. The journalist was injured in the shooting. Later, he was admitted to the hospital, where his condition is said to be critical.
Mannu Awasthi was on a scooter when unidentified assailants fired at him, striking him in the shoulder. He has been recommended to Halat Hospital in Kanpur after the incident. The journalist was still unconscious till Sunday morning.
Akhilesh Yadav targets the government. Talking to the media in Lucknow, the SP chief said that the journalist had come to my press conference as well and told me that I might be killed. He was shot last night. He further added that the situation in this BJP government has been deteriorating and is worse than the emergency in the Congress.
The SP chief went on to say that if the media shows any correct news, then action is taken on it. The journalist had been receiving threats for three months. According to information, Mannu Awasthi had published news about the attack on the BJP leader’s house that took place three months ago.
Since then, the mafia members have threatened to kill the journalist. In fact, Mannu Awasthi had complained to Unnao Superintendent of Police Siddharth Shankar Meena and other top senior officers about the threat to his life by alleged members of the mafia.
He had given the names of Anshu Gupta, Deepak Singh, Fahad Siddiqui, and Golu Ki in the complaint. Mannu Awasthi also released a video only after registering the complaint. In this video, he said that he was being threatened for publishing news about the attack on a BJP leader’s house.
The police have recovered bullet shells from the scene where Mannu Awasthi was shot. While talking to reporters at the incident site on Saturday night, Unnao ASP Shashi Shekhar Singh said, “A journalist was shot. We have recovered one live cartridge and one used cartridge from the spot. Mannu’s scooter is also here. We haven’t received any complaints. Mannu Awasthi has been referred to Lala Lajpat Rai Hospital. We will take strict action, the officer said.
The matter is related to a BJP leader. The whole matter is about the attack on the BJP leader’s house. In the video shared by himself, Mannu Awasthi said, ‘I wrote a news story on BJP leader Vinay Singh’s .  When I covered this news, I started receiving death threats. Unidentified cars without registration numbers are following me. People were abusing me outside my house. I have submitted a complaint to Unnao SP. In which he has named Anshu Gupta, Deepak Singh, Fahad Siddiqui, and Golu Singh. He  said, «I am being threatened over the phone.
