Police Rescue 18 Minors From Child Labour In Bhajanpura Factory Raid

On Tuesday, the Delhi police rescued 18 children, aged between 11 and 17, from a jute bag manufacturing factory and printing facility in the Gamri Village area of Bhajanpura, Delhi.
The operation was conducted in coordination with the SDM Seelampur, the Department of Labour, the Revenue Department, and the NGO “Sahyog: Care for You,” along with local police authorities.

According to police officials, the rescue mission was launched based on specific information about the illegal employment of minors at the factory. The children, who were from Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Uttarakhand, were found working under harsh conditions. After being rescued, they underwent medical examinations, and arrangements were made for their welfare and safety.

The operation resulted in the arrest of nine individuals: Aslat, Rajkumar, Vicky, Pintu, Sarvesh, Aehsan, Satender, Ansari, and Sahil Dabas, all residents of Gamri Village, Bhajanpura.

They have been charged with violations of sections 75 and 79 of the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, as well as sections 3 and 14 of the Child Labour (Prohibition and Regulation) Act. According to officials, the accused were allegedly involved in running the jute bag manufacturing and printing operations where the children were employed. After being rescued, the children will be presented before the Child Welfare Committee at the Sanskar Ashram complex in Dilshad Garden, Delhi. Dr. Joy Tirkey, Deputy Commissioner of Police for the North-East District, stated that further investigations are underway to uncover the full scope of the child labour operation and to ensure that all responsible parties are held accountable.
