Police Raids Houses in Srinagar, Recover Incriminating Materials and Digital Devices

Police in Srinagar raided houses in Batamaloo and HMT areas, recovering incriminating materials and digital devices as part of an ongoing investigation under FIR No. 65/2024, registered at Police Station Shergari under Section 13 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.

The raids targeted the residences of Obais Riyaz Dar of Bonpora Batamaloo and Sahil Ahmad Bhat of HMT, Zainakot. The operation followed allegations of their involvement in a criminal conspiracy to fabricate and spread malicious narratives, aimed at provoking unrest and inciting unlawful activities.

Searches were carried out after obtaining warrants from the NIA Court. Police stated that the materials seized are believed to have been used to disseminate false information and promote seditious propaganda in coordination with adversarial elements.

Authorities have cautioned citizens against sharing or uploading inciteful content on social media, urging them to avoid spreading false narratives that could mislead the public, particularly the youth, into unlawful acts. More searches targeting additional suspects involved in the case are expected in the coming days.

Police assured the public of their commitment to maintaining law and order and warned against any attempts to disrupt peace through malicious propaganda.
