Police arrest two Lawrence Bishnoi Gang members after high-speed car chase and shootout

As part of a major drive against organized crime, Jalandhar Commissionerate Police nabbed two members of Lawrence Bishnoi Gang in a dramatic hot chase and shootout in Jalandhar on Tuesday. The operation once again demonstrated the police’s swiftness and determination to act on rising gang-related activities in the region.

The incident started when the police stopped the suspects who were moving in a vehicle at a major checkpoint. After being signalled down, the duo tried to flee, leading to a hot chase around the city. In the chase, the suspects began shooting at the police, who were forced to shoot back. The suspects were eventually subdued after an intense confrontation, with no civilians harmed.

The arrested individuals, whose identities are yet to be disclosed, are reportedly long-time associates of the Lawrence Bishnoi Gang, infamous for its involvement in extortion, murders, and other organized crimes. According to the police, the duo has a string of serious cases registered against them, including charges under the Arms Act, the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, and previous cases of extortion and murder.

A significant cache of arms and ammunition was recovered during the operation. The police seized three weapons and multiple live cartridges from the suspects, raising concerns about the gang’s plans and their potential involvement in future criminal activities.

Jalandhar Police Commissioner Kuldeep Singh Chahal praised the quick and concerted action of his team, saying the operation reflects the department’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of the region. “The apprehension of these individuals is a significant step toward dismantling the network of the Lawrence Bishnoi Gang in Punjab. We will continue to act decisively against organized crime and those threatening public safety,” he said.

This is against the backdrop of increased efforts by Punjab Police to crack down on gang violence and crime networks in the state. The police are now pressing their investigation into the suspects’ activities and connections, which would help identify other members of the gang and avert future incidents.

The operation is a stern warning to criminal elements operating in the region, reaffirming the police’s zero-tolerance stance against organized crime and their commitment to maintaining law and order.
