Prime Minister Narendra Modi has inaugurated six new Vande Bharat trains at Tatanagar Junction Railway Station in Jharkhand, enhancing connectivity across various regions. This expansion is part of the ongoing effort to improve travel infrastructure and provide passengers with advanced amenities.
The new routes introduced are: Tatanagar-Patna, Brahmapur-Tatanagar, Rourkela-Howrah, Deoghar-Varanasi, Bhagalpur-Howrah, and Gaya-Howrah. These trains are designed to offer faster, safer journeys and a range of modern passenger conveniences.
The Vande Bharat trains, which are part of India’s first indigenously designed and manufactured semi-high-speed train series, first began operations on February 15, 2019. The fleet has since grown to 54 trains, completing approximately 36,000 trips and transporting over 3.17 crore passengers.
The Vande Bharat 2.0 model includes advanced features such as rapid acceleration, the Kavach safety system, an anti-virus system, and onboard WiFi. These trains are a testament to the success of the ‘Make in India’ initiative, setting new standards in global rail travel for speed, safety, and comfort.
The expansion of the Vande Bharat portfolio reflects Indian Railways’ commitment to revolutionizing travel in India, aiming for a future of seamless, efficient, and comfortable journeys.
