PM Modi To Visit Varanasi Today to Launch Rs. 2,200 Crore Development Projects

PM Modi visits Varanasi on August 2 to launch and inaugurate projects worth Rs. 2,200 crore, focusing on infrastructure, tourism, education, health, environment, and connectivity, aiming for holistic development in his constituency.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is going to visit his parliamentary constituency, Varanasi on August 2. This visit will witness the unveiling of multiple development projects, woth Rs. 2,200 crore. These projects will focus on various sectors including infrastructure, education, tourism, environment and much more. PM Modi aims towards boosting the urban development and enhance the overall quality of life in the city.

‘Special Day for Kashi’

Taking it to X, PM Modi writes, “For my family members in Kashi, tomorrow, August 2, is a very special day. Around 11 in the morning, I will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for several projects related to education, health, sports, tourism, and connectivity. On this occasion, I will also have the privilege of releasing the 20th instalment of PM-Kisan.”

Major Infrastructure Upgrades

PM Modi will inaugurate the widening and strengthening of crucial roads including the Varanasi-Bhadohi road and the Chhitauni-Shool Tankeshwar road. A new railway overbridge will also be alunched at Hardattpur for an easy congestion at Mohan Sarai-Adalpura route.

Along with this, foundation stones will be laid for several projects such as Lahartara-Kotwa, Dalmandi, Gangapur, and Babatpur, as well as new overbridges at Level Crossing 22C and Khalispur Yard in order to improve urban and rural connectivity.

Power Supply, Tourism, and Ghats Revamp

To enhance power distribution in the region, PM Modi will kick off work under the Smart Distribution Project and the underground cabling of electric lines, with a combined investment of overs Rs. 880 crore.

In a bid to strengthen Varanasi’s tourism appeal, the Prime Minister will inaugurate redevelopment works at eight riverfront Kuccha Ghats and Kalika Dham. He will also unveil beautification initiatives at Rangildas Kutiya in Shivpur and the restoration and water purification efforts at Durgakund.

Foundation stones will be laid for restoration work at the Kardameshwar Mahadev Temple and for the development of Karkhiyaon, known as the birthplace of several freedom fighters. Additional projects include the redevelopment of Munshi Premchand's ancestral house in Lamahi, the upgrade of its museum, and the development of City Facility Centres at Sarnath, Rishi Mandvi, and Ramnagar zones.

Green Spaces, Environment and Water Access

As part of his environmental push, PM Modi will initiate the development of an Urban Miyawaki Forest at Kanchanpur and the beautification of Shaheed Udyan and 21 other public parks.

He will also flag off water purification works at kunds like Ramkund, Mandakini, and Shankuldhara, and introduce four floating pujan platforms. To address water needs in rural areas, he will inaugurate 47 Rural Drinking Water Schemes under the Jal Jeevan Mission.

Education and Health

In the education sector, PM Modi will launch the upgradation of 53 schools within the Varanasi municipal limits and lay foundation stones for additional institutions, including a new district library and renovations at Government High Schools in Jakhini and Lalpur.

For the healthcare infrastructure, he will inaugurate new robotic surgery and CT scan equipment at the Mahamana Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya Cancer Centre and the Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital. He will also lay the foundation stone of a new Homoeopathic College and Hospital, and launch an Animal Birth Control Centre along with a Dog Care Centre.

The wide array of projects is set to give a holistic facelift to Varanasi, reaffirming the government’s push for modern, inclusive, and sustainable development across urban India.
