Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit the Gaya district on August 22. He will inaugurate major infrastructure projects and address a public rally. The visit comes just months before the Bihar Assembly elections.
Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister Samrat Choudhary shared the update on X. He wrote, “Bringing the gift of development, Modi ji is coming to Bihar again. The PM is arriving on August 22 in Gayaji.”
₹1,870 crore Ganga bridge to be inaugurated
The highlight of the visit will be the inauguration of the Aunta–Simaria bridge project on NH-31. The project includes an 8.15 km stretch with a 1.86 km long six-lane bridge on the river Ganga.
The bridge has been built at a cost of over ₹1,870 crore. It will connect Mokama in Patna district with Begusarai. The new link will cut the travel time between the two places to just 1.5 hours, almost half of what it takes now.

This bridge is expected to become a key link between North Bihar and South Bihar, offering an alternative to the old Rajendra Setu.
India’s widest extradosed bridge
According to officials, this is India’s widest extradosed bridge with a 34-metre-wide deck. The design includes span lengths between 57 m to 115 m with 70 m cantilever arms.
The Ministry said the bridge will improve connectivity and reduce travel distances by up to 100 km. It will help regions like Begusarai, Supaul, Madhubani, and Araria in North Bihar, and Patna, Sheikhpura, Nawada, and Lakhisarai in South Bihar.

“This dramatic reduction in travel distance directly translates into savings: on time, on fuel, and vehicle operation costs. With travel becoming both easier and faster, the new bridge is poised to energise trade, support local industries, and enhance economic resilience for communities that depend on the swift transport of goods and people,” the Ministry said.
Boost to the local economy and industries.
The bridge will also ease the heavy load on the old two-lane Rajendra Setu, which is in poor condition. Heavy vehicles are currently forced to take longer routes, adding over 100 km to their travel. The new bridge will solve this problem and reduce traffic jams in the region.

The project is expected to give a big push to local industries, trade, and transportation. Farmers, businesses, and small traders from North and South Bihar will benefit the most.
Modi’s series of Bihar visits
This will be Modi’s latest stop in a series of visits to Bihar. Since April, he has already visited Motihari, Siwan, Madhubani, and Patna.
Deputy CM Samrat Choudhary urged people to join the rally. “I urge everyone to come to Gayaji to listen to the country’s most popular leader, Modi ji,” he said.
The visit is seen as both a development push and a political move as Bihar prepares for elections later this year.
