PM Modi to attend All India Conference at DGP, IGP in Rajasthan

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to participate in the annual All India Conference of Director Generals and Inspector Generals of Police at the Rajasthan International Centre in Jaipur on January 6-7, as confirmed by the Prime Minister’s Office. During the three-day conference, discussions will center around the challenges presented by artificial intelligence (AI), cyber security, counter-terrorism, left-wing extremism, and narcotics smuggling.

The official statement outlines the conference’s agenda, stating, “The conference, being held from January 5 to 7, will discuss a wide range of policing and internal security issues, including cybercrime, technology in policing, counter-terrorism challenges, left-wing extremism, and prison reforms, among others.”

One key focus of the conference is deliberations on the implementation roadmap for the recently passed criminal laws. The statement notes, “Further, the conference will also deliberate on futuristic themes in policing and security, like the challenges posed by new technologies such as AI, deep fakes, etc., and ways to deal with them.”

The conference is the perfect opportunity to recognize actionable points and monitor their progress. This is done by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself every year. It sets a platform for important discussions involving the police department of the country along with the intelligence officers on various levels on the identified themes, presenting best practices from states and union territories.

PM Modi have been actively participating in the DGP conference since 2014. He sits through the major sessions and encourage free and informal decision to foster unique ideas. Free-flowing thematic discussions over meals have been planned to allow senior police officials to share views and recommendations on key policing and internal security issues with the Prime Minister.

The tradition of organizing annual DGP conferences across the country, initiated in 2014, continues with this year’s conference in Jaipur. The event will be attended by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, MOS for Home Affairs, Cabinet Secretary, senior officials of the Government of India, DGP of States/UTs, and Heads of Central Armed Police Forces and Central Police Organisations, among others.
