Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the ‘Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan’ and the 8th Poshan Maah on September 17 as part of efforts to enhance healthcare and nutrition services for women, adolescent girls, and children all over India, a Press Information Bureau (PIB) statement said.
The campaign is being spearheaded jointly by the Ministries of Health and Family Welfare and Women and Child Development. While the health ministry will conduct preventive, promotive and curative services through countrywide health camps and centres, the women and child development ministry will include Poshan Maah activities, mobilize women and girls through Anganwadi centres and undertake mass-scale nutrition counselling and cooking demonstrations.
Focus Areas
PIB states that “The Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan is an endeavour to further the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s vision of Health, Poshan (Nutrition), Fitness, and a Viksit Bharat by 2047. The campaign will provide screening, early diagnosis, and treatment for non-communicable diseases, anaemia, tuberculosis, and sickle cell disease, and also promote maternal, child, and adolescent health through antenatal care, immunisation, menstrual hygiene promotion, and mental health activities.

Large-Scale Outreach
The program will be conducted from September 17 to October 2 in all Ayushman Arogya Mandirs, Community Health Centres, District Hospitals, and other government health centres. At least 100,000 health camps will be conducted, making it the biggest ever health outreach for women and children in the nation.
Speciality services like gynaecology, paediatrics. ENT. dental, dermatology, and psychiatry will be made available through medical colleges, district hospitals, and central government-run institutions like AIIMS, Defence and Railway hospitals, ESIC hospitals, CGHS centres, and Institutes of National Importance. Private hospitals have also provided assistance.

Community Participation
Health Minister JP Nadda announced on X that the campaign will improve healthcare facilities of women and children in India with better access, quality care, and awareness,” and appealed to private hospitals to join this Jan Bhagidaani Abhiyaan. Public representatives, ASHAS, ANMs, Anganwadi workers, self-help groups, and volunteers will lead community mobilisation at the grassroots level.
