PM Narendra Modi on Thursday delivered a fiery speech in Muzaffarpur, launching a strong attack on the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and the opposition alliance ahead of the Bihar elections. Accusing them of dragging Bihar back into an era of fear and misrule, PM Modi urged voters to choose stability and progress under the NDA government.

PM Modi Targets RJD’s Misrule

PM Modi accused RJD of turning Bihar into a “jungle raj” during its rule, saying the party’s politics was defined by violence, cruelty, and corruption. He said, “RJD’s rule was marked by Katta (gun), Krurta (cruelty), Katuta (bitterness), Kushasan (misrule), and Corruption.”

PM Modi added that the people of Bihar had already suffered under such leadership and must not allow it to return. He said the NDA government stood for “development, dignity, and law and order,” contrasting it with the “chaos and crime” under previous governments.

PM Modi Accuses Opposition of Insulting Chhathi Maiyya

In a direct attack on the Congress and RJD, PM Modi accused them of disrespecting Chhathi Maiyya, the deity worshipped during Bihar’s most sacred festival, Chhath Puja.

“Can anyone insult Chhathi Maiyya for votes in an election? Will the people of Bihar and the country tolerate such an insult?” PM Modi asked, drawing loud applause from the audience.

He said the opposition’s remarks reflected their disconnect with Bihar’s culture and faith, while his government had worked to promote traditional festivals and values globally.

Push for UNESCO Heritage Tag for Chhath Mahaparv

Highlighting his government’s cultural initiatives, PM Modi announced that India was working to include Chhath Mahaparv in UNESCO’s list of Intangible Cultural Heritage.

“Our government is making every possible effort to have Chhath Mahaparv included in UNESCO’s list,” Modi said. “The festival deserves global recognition as a celebration of humanity and devotion.” He added that Chhath was not just a regional festival but a reflection of India’s ancient respect for nature and womanhood.

PM Modi Praises Muzaffarpur’s Spirit

In a lighter tone, PM Modi praised the warmth of Muzaffarpur’s people, saying, “Yahan ki litchi jitni meethi hoti hai, utni hi meethi hai yahan ki boli.” The line drew smiles and cheers, especially from women and youth in the crowd. Modi ended his speech with his popular slogan — “Phir ek baar, NDA sarkaar!”

New Initiative to Promote Chhath Songs

PM Modi also launched a new nationwide Chhath song competition to preserve and promote the state’s folk culture among the youth. “We want the youth to connect more deeply with the rich legacy of Chhath songs. These devotional songs carry forward the festival’s values from one generation to another,” he said.

He added that the initiative would help “new voices, new songs, and new expressions of devotion emerge” from across India.

PM Modi Ties Culture with Politics Ahead of Bihar Polls

Analysts see Modi’s Muzaffarpur speech as a strategic mix of cultural nationalism and electoral messaging. By invoking faith, regional pride, and governance, Modi positioned the NDA as the defender of Bihar’s culture and stability — a contrast to the opposition’s alleged failures.

As chants of “Bharat Mata ki Jai” echoed through the rally, Modi’s message was clear — Bihar’s political choice, he said, must reflect pride in its culture and trust in development.
