Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a scathing attack on the Congress party on Sunday while visiting Darrang, Assam, and accused it of supporting anti-national elements and terrorists raised by Pakistan.
“Rather than supporting our brave soldiers, Congress has decided to support infiltrators and those who are working towards splitting India. Time and again, this party has shielded anti-national elements, Modi said addressing a large gathering of people.
The trip was Modi’s first to Assam following Operation Sindoor, which he declared a “huge success” and offered to Maa Kamakhya and Lord Krishna. “Yesterday, it was my first visit to Assam since Operation Sindoor. Through the grace of Maa Kamakhya, the operation was a success. Today, I am feeling divine connection by being on this holy land,” he added.
Connecting his speech to Janmashtami festivals, PM Modi remembered his address on Independence Day when he spoke about Lord Krishna’s Sudarshan Chakra as India’s security plans inspiration. “From the Red Fort, I remembered Chakradhari Mohan. Today on this sacred occasion, I reiterate our vision of the Sudarshan Chakra for national security,” he said.
He also highlighted the Sudarshan Chakra Mission, a decade-long initiative to develop an indigenous Iron Dome-like defence shield. “By 2035, we will expand, modernise, and strengthen this system. It will not only shield us from terrorist attacks but also strike back decisively,” he said, emphasising India’s goal of self-reliance in defence technology.
Terming Assam “the centre of identity and bravery, Modi appreciated the people’s resilience and thanked for being on the “motivational land.
With his political speech, PM Modi also opened numerous development projects, i.e, the foundation stone of Darrang Medical College and Hospital, GNM School, and B.Sc. Nursing College. The foundation stone for the Guwahati Ring Road Project to de-congest traffic and the Kuruwa-Narengi Bridge over the Brahmaputra to enhance connectivity and boost socio-economic development was also laid by him.
