Prime Minister Narendra Modi confirmed on Friday that India’s ISRO will collaborate with Japan’s JAXA for the Chandrayaan-5 mission. He took it to the social media platform X and wrote, “We welcome the collaboration between ISRO and JAXA for the Chandrayaan-5 mission. Our active participation has gone beyond the limits of the earth and will become a symbol of mankind’s progress in space.”
In a joint press conference in Tokyo with Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba, PM Modi announced the partnership. He called the discussions ‘productive’ and ‘purposeful’. Modi asserted that strong democracies shape the world hand-in-hand.
He stated, “We agree that as the two largest economies of the world and living democracies, our partnership is essential not just for the two countries but also for global peace and security.”

The joint statement by both Prime Ministers signifies renewed relations and strengthened economic and security ties between India and Japan. PM Modi stressed that the two nations are entering a new chapter in their global partnership.
He announced a key goal of securing 10 trillion yen from Japan for India in the next decade, with special focus on startups. Furthermore, he highlighted priority areas such as investment, innovation, technology, economic security, health, mobility, and people-to-people exchange.
Modi also revealed that both countries will work on semiconductors, rare earth minerals, Digital Partnership 2.0, and AI Cooperation Initiative.
